Men's Lacrosse Holds Off Late Rally For 15-11 Win

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team raced out to a 9-2 halftime lead and held off a late charge to defeat Hope 15-11 at Van Andel Stadium on Saturday, March 28.

The Titans are 6-4 while the Flying Dutchmen are now 2-6. IWU led 3-1 after the first quarter and outscored Hope 6-1 in the second quarter to take a 9-2 lead at halftime. The Titans would be outscored 4-3 in the third quarter and then gave up five Flying Dutchmen goals in the final period while scoring three of their own to secure the 15-11 victory.

Tim Smith and Nick Winter led Illinois Wesleyan with five goals each while Evan Mok-Lamme added three of his own. The other two Titan goals would be contributed by Michael Julius.
James Maibuecher had three assists to lead IWU Winter and Colin Daly had two assists each. Mok-Lamme (1) also had an assist. 

Illinois Wesleyan had 44 ground balls compared to 30 for Hope but the Titans were outshot by the Flying Dutchmen, 44-40. IWU held a 18-10 advantage in face-offs and converted eight of nine clear attempts while Hope was sucessful on nine of 12 clears. 

Goalkeeper Steven Laduzinsky worked all 60 minutes and made 14 saves.

What's Next?
The Titans will play next Wednesday, April, at Tucci Stadium playing host to Fontbonne University. Faceoff will be at 5 p.m.
