No. 6 Titans Top No. 18 Simpson, 7-3

ORLANDO, Fla. - The No. 6-ranked Illinois Wesleyan softball team handed the No. 18-ranked Simpson Storm its first loss of the season, 7-3, in the Titans' finale in the 2015 Rebel Spring Games spring break trip.

The Titans are 8-1 while Simpson is now 16-1.

Senior lefthander Chloe Montgomery (7-0) worked the final four innings in relief of junior Jenna Noland. Montgomery, who also had a double and three runs batted in in the game, allowed one hit and one walk with four strikeouts. Noland fanned five and walked none while allowing four hits and three unearned runs.

Junior second baseman Laura Bonds leaves Florida hitting .722 and was 3-for-3 with two runs batted in, a double and a triple, and a run scored against the Storm while senior centerfielder Hannah Bowen had two hits, an RBI and scored three times. Freshman Stephanie Prentice also had two hits.

IWU scored two runs in the first, second and fifth innings and added one in the seventh.

What's Next?
IWU will play next in a doubleheader against Wisconsin-Eau Claire at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 19 at the IWU softball field.
