Box Score FREDERICK, Md. - The Illinois Wesleyan men's lacrosse team scored early and often in posting a 16-4 win over Hood College at Thomas Athletic Field on Wednesday, March 11.The Titans improved to 2-3 this season while the Blazer slipped to 3-3.Illinois Wesleyan got six goals and an assist from Tim Smith while Michael Julius added four goals to go along with two assists.Nick Winter had three goals while Colin Daly, Alex Lambert and Evan Mok-Lamme each had one in the offensive barrage that saw IWU outshoot Hood 43-24.After giving up a goal in the opening minutes of the game, IWU came back to take a 2-1 lead at the end of the first quarter with both goals coming from Smith. Smith would add his third goal to start the second quarter as the Titans would outscore the Blazers 5-2 in the period to take a 7-3 halftime lead.
IWU would hold Hood scoreless for a stretch 37:04 between the second, third and fourth quarters, in which the Titans would score 13 unanswered goals to take a commanding 16-3 lead before Hood would add a goal with 1:56 left in the game to make the final score 16-4.
IWU collected 36 ground balls to 22 for Hood and the Titans won 14 of 24 faceoffs.Steven Laduzinsky (57 minutes, eight saves), Mark Dezell (2 minutes) both saw time in goal for the Titans.What's Next?The Titans complete a four-game road trip by traveling to Adrian, Mich. to face Adrian College on Saturday.
