Titans Sweep Season Series With North Park

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team picked up their third road win of the season, defeating North Park 72-68 at the North Park Gymnasium on Saturday, February 14th. 
 
The Titans improved to 10-14 overall and 4-9 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the host Vikings fell to 13-11 overall and 5-8 in the CCIW. 

IWU has now won 23 straight games against North Park, with the last loss to the Vikings occuring in the 2004-05 season. 

The Titans led wire-to-wire, scoring nine of the first 11 points of the game leading by as many as seven in the first half. After IWU took a 24-17 lead off a fast break layup by freshman Molly McGraw with 9:59 left in the period, the Vikings fought their way back to trail Illinois Wesleyan 36-32 at intermission. 
 
Illinois Wesleyan got off to a quick start to open up the second half as well, with senior Kasey Reaber scoring seven of the Titans first nine points to extend their lead to 45-36 with 18 minutes left in the game. North Park would again claw their way back into the game, getting within three points of IWU with 6:41 left. The Vikings got as close as one point on three different occasions, including 68-67 with 33 seconds remaining. Two free throws by freshman Rebekah Ehresman with 26 seconds left and two from Reaber with 8 seconds left helped to seal the victory. 

Illinois Wesleyan was outrebounded by North Park 40-30, but benefited from 27 points off of 23 Viking turnovers. IWU scored 28 points in the paint and 10 fast break points.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Titans close out their 2014-15 campaign by hosting Elmhurst on "Seniors' Night" on Saturday, Feb. 21. Illinois Wesleyan will honor seniors Kasey Reaber and Emily Beoletto prior to the game ... In their previous meeting this season (Jan. 24 at Elmhurst), the Bluejays defeated the Titans 86-61. That win ended an 18-game IWU winning streak against Elmhurst.
