Titans Women's Basketball Drops 80-70 Contest At Augustana

Box Score

ROCK ISLAND, Ill.. - After leading by two points with 4:38 left in regulation, the Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team saw host Augustana finish the game on 21-9 run to put away the Titans 80-70 at the Carver Center in Rock Island on Wednesday, Feb. 11.

IWU drops to 9-14 overall and 3-9 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while Augustana picks up their second CCIW win of the 2015 campaign, improving to 8-15 and 2-10 in the CCIW. The Titans split the season series with the Vikings as both squads won at home. IWU's road woes this season continued as the Titans are now 2-6 in true road games on the year.

The first half turned out to be a back-and-forth affair as neither team was able to build a lead bigger than six points. IWU took their biggest lead of the half at 36-32 with 1:45 left in the first half before Augustana would end the first 20 minutes of play scoring the last five points to take a 37-36 lead into the half.

Second half action started out exactly as the first half played out as the first 18-plus minutes of action again saw no team build a lead bigger than five points. IWU would take their final lead of the game off a Kasey Reaber jumper to take 61-59 lead. A 12-1 Viking run over the next  two minutes would give Augustana the lead good, as the Titans could not recover from a nine-point deficit.

The Vikings held a slight 38-33 advantage on the glass, and benefited from 19 points off turnovers compared to 18 for the Titans. IWU forced Augustana into 19 turnovers, but could not overcome 18 turnovers of their own.
