Titan Football Stumbles at North Park, 27-24

CHICAGO, Ill. -- For the first time since 1985, the Illinois Wesleyan football team lost to North Park, falling by a 27-24 score at Holmgren Complex in Chicago on Saturday, Nov. 14.

The Titans lost their final three games of the season and finished with a 7-3 record overall and 4-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Vikings ended with a 3-7 overall record and were 2-5 in the CCIW.

IWU junior running back Maurice Shoemaker-Gilmore rushed 18 times for 137 yards and scored twice and finished the season with 868 yards rushing, 11th best in an IWU single season.

Sophomore quarterback Jack Warner, who was sacked five times in the contest, completed 18 of 34 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns. Andrew Javorka had a team-high five catches for 47 yards with a TD and Jake Robbins led IWU with 70 receiving yards on three catches.

Senior defensive back Timmy Smith and junior linebacker Sean Garvey each had 11 total tackles and senior Will James had nine total tackles with a quarterback sack for -8 yards. Senior Kevin Slawkowski had an interception for nine yards and Matt Campbell also made an interception.

Dating back to 1960, IWU leads the series vs. North Park, 52-4, had won 29 in a row and 34 of the last 35 against the Vikings. Illinois Wesleyan is 21-4 on the road and 31-0 in Bloomington vs. North Park.
