Men's Soccer Ends Season on High Note With 3-1 Road Win

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team scored just 1:53 into the game, and added two more goals in a 3-1 road victory at North Central College in Naperville on Saturday, Oct. 31.

IWU closes out the season with a 6-9-2 overall record and 2-5-0 record in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the host Cardinals finish the regular season with a 5-13-0 record and 4-3-0 record in the CCIW.

Sophomore Isaac Albracht gave the Titans an early 1-0 lead when he found the back of the net for his second goal of the year at the 1:53 mark off an Alex White assist. Looking to add to their lead before halftime, sophomore Ryan Kaplan junior Brendan McCoy who knocked a header past the goalie for his second goal of the year.

Taking a 2-0 lead into the second half, Illinois Wesleyan saw its lead cut in half when the Cardinals netted a goal at the 50:24 mark. IWU would respond late in the game (85:55) when senior Eric Gilbert found Jimmy Connolly, who netted his third goal of the year in his final collegiate game to send the Titans home 3-1 winners.

Seniors Craig Kym and Erick Eklin both played one half for the Titans, collectively allowing one goal while making seven saves.
