J.J. Slomba had a goal in the 85th minute but the Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer team fell a goal short in a 2-1 loss to Dominican (Ill.) at Neis Field on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
The Titans lost for the second straight time and are now 4-4-0 while the Stars improved to 2-3-2.
Slomba was assisted on his goal, his second of the season, by
Colin Rathe at 85:18 that chipped into a 2-0 deficit. The Stars got goals from Carlos Ramos at 67:05 on an assist from Gabriel Garcia, with the other coming at 82:09 from Zach Venzon on assists from Neftali Alejandre and Frankie Saiz.
The Titans led in shots, 11-10, and in shots on goal, 6-5. IWU keeper
Mark Streid made three saves while the Stars' Gabriel Gongora made five.
What's Next?Illinois Wesleyan plays nonconference matches at Simpson College at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, in Indianola, Iowa, and stays in Iowa to meet Central College in Pella at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20.
