BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The No. 19-ranked Illinois Wesleyan softball team got a 4-2 win in the first game and a 6-2 win in game two of a doubleheader against Carthage at IWU Field on Wednesday, April 9.

The Titans improved to 19-4 overall and 6-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Lady Reds slipped to 12-8 overall and 3-3 in the CCIW.

Sophomore Jenna Noland (9-2) sruck out 10 and allowed only five hits in the complete game win that saw IWU get solo runs in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings. Senior catcher Sara Daley had two doubles and junior rightfielder Hannah Bowen also had two of the Titans' eight hits.

Illinois Wesleyan senior lefthander Molly McCready (9-2) tossed a one-hitter in the second game with the lone hit coming as a single to short rightfield in the bottom of the sixth inning. McCready allowed two unearned runs with four strikeouts and five walks.

IWU took a 1-0 lead in the second inning of the nightcap when senior shortstop Amanda Fazzari scored on double by sophomore first baseman Cassidy Tarpey, who finished with three two-base hits in the game.  A solo home run by senior leftfielder Danielle Burge in the fourth, along with another run scoring-double by Tarpey made it 3-0.  The Titans broke the game open with a three-run fifth inning.  Daley doubled in a run, senior designated hitter Allie Riordan singled home another, and freshman third baseman Katie Caulfield singled in another.
