#16 Titan Softball Sweeps Wheaton

WHEATON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan rallied to come from behind to win game one, 3-2, and Molly McCready pitched a five-hitter in a 6-0 win in the nightcap as the Titans won a pair of softball games at Wheaton on Saturday, April 5.

The No. 16-ranked Titans are now 16-3 overall and 3-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while Wheaton is 12-8 and 0-2 in the CCIW.

In game one, Jenna Noland (7-2) went the distance and struck out nine while allowing two runs on four hits with three walks. The Titans trailed 2-1 going into the final inning when Sara Rogers led off with a hit and Hannah Bowen walked. Victoria Whitaker advanced the runners with a sacrifice and Allie Riordan singled to tie the game with Rogers' run. Bowen came home with the winning tally on a ground out by Danielle Burge.

In game two, IWU scored single runs in the first, second and third and plated three in the fourth. Rogers led off the game with a home run and Victoria Whitaker, Sara Daley and Katie Caulfield each had two hits. McCready (8-1) struck out seven and walked only one in the shutout win.
