BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Junior rightfielder Hannah Bowen slugged a pair of home runs in game two as the No. 17 Illinois Wesleyan softball team claimed a pair of wins over Wis.-Whitewater, 3-0 and 10-2, in a doubleheader at IWU Field on Wednesday, April 16.

The Titans improved to 24-5 while the Warhawks are 20-7.

Bowen becomes only the eighth player to have hit two home runs in an IWU softball game, the last time being on March 14, 2013 when Erin Sweeney hit two against Wheaton (Mass.). The team's four home runs in the second game ties an IWU school record set three other times, most recently against Calvin on April 9, 2011.

In game one, Senior leftfielder Danielle Burge had two of IWU's seven hits and drove in a run and senior catcher Sara Daley reached base twice and scored a pair of runs. Freshman third baseman Katie Caulfield and senior Allie Riordan also had runs batted in.

Senior Molly McCready improved to 13-2 with the pitching win and extended her scoreless inning streak to 25 as she allowed just three hits with nine strikeouts and no walks. She also improved on her career shutout record with her 18th.

Trailing 2-0 in the second inning of game two, IWU scored five as Caulfield led off and reached on an error and pitcher Chloe Montgomery singled. With one out, senior shortstop Amanda Fazzari homered to leftfield to plate three runs. After sophomore Kyley McKeown singled, Bowen homered to right to bring in two more and give IWU a 5-2 lead.

After Sara Rogers led off the fourth with a double, Bowen clouted her second homer of the game, an opposite field shot to leftcenter.

The Titans closed out the second game with three runs in the fifth coming on a run batted in by McKeown and a two run homer by Rogers.

Montgomery (2-0) went the first three innings to earn the pitching decision, allowing two runs on four hits. Jenna Noland pitched the final two scoreless innings and struck out five.
