BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan softball team rallied from a 3-1 deficit to earn an 8-3 win over Washington U. and gain a split on day one of the IWU Tournament on Saturday, April 12 at IWU Field. The Titans earlier lost to Anderson, 6-5.

The No. 19-ranked Titans are 20-5 this season while the No. 22-ranked Ravens improved to 18-2 and the No. 25 Bears are 19-12.

In game one, a two-run home run by Allie Riordan in the eighth inning wasn't enough as IWU lost to Anderson in the last of the eighth.

Riordan had three of the Titans' seven hits and put IWU ahead 5-3 with her two run homer in the eighth with Hannah Bowen placed on second base. But the Ravens scored three runs on three hits and a walk with the runner on second base at the start of the inning to come from behind for the 6-5 win. Senior leftfielder Sara Daley had a two-run home run in the fifth to give IWU a 3-2 lead at the time.

Sophomore Jenna Noland (9-3) took the loss, allowing four earned runs on nine hits with one walk and six strikeouts.

In game two, IWU trailed 3-1 before scoring three in the fifth and adding four more in the sixth. Riordan had three runs batted in and Bowen had two hits and two RBI. Senior second baseman Sara Rogers, third baseman Katie Caulfield and sophomore centerfielder Kyley McKeown each had two hits in IWU's eight-hit attack.

Senior pitcher Molly McCready (10-2) survived eight walks and allowed only three runs on seven hits with 10 strikeouts.
