ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Sophomore Jenna Noland struck out 11 and senior Molly McCready fanned 13 as both pitchers tossed shutouts in Illinois Wesleyan softball wins over nationally-ranked teams at the Mizuno Invitational Saturday afternoon (March 22) in St. Louis.

The Titans (now 9-2 this season) scored their only run, unearned, in the eighth when Hannah Bowen started the inning on second with the tiebreaker. Senior Allie Riordan grounded out and Danielle Burge fouled out before Bowen came home on a wild pitch.

Noland (5-1), who walked none and scattered four hits, kept No. 19-ranked Washington U. at bay the entire game as the Bears got a runner to second base just twice.

In the nightcap, McCready (4-1) allowed just two hits and walked four in the win.

The Titans broke open a scoreless game in the fifth when senior Sara Daley doubled to right field and Katie Caulfield followed with a double down the leftfield line to score Daley. Caulfield went to third on a sacrifice and scored on a balk for IWU's only other run.

What's Next?
The Titans are scheduled to play a doubleheader at Monmouth College at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 26.
