Box Score

KENOSHA, Wis. – In a back-and-forth game on its home turf, the Carthage women's basketball team defeated Illinois Wesleyan, 63-59, Saturday (March 1) night at Tarble Arena. The Titans' postseason is at the mercy of an at-large bid, to be announced Monday afternoon.

The Lady Reds, who were the outright CCIW regular season champions, are now 24-3, while IWU is 19-8 overall.

The game went basket-for-basket a majority of the game, as the lead changed 10 times and was tied nine times throughout.

Carthage had the upper hand at halftime, just one basket ahead of the Titans, 37-35, and continued to be in the lead into the second half, until the 10:49 marker when Colleen McMahon nailed a jumper to put the Titans ahead by three, 50-47, and steal the first lead of the second half.

The see-saw battled continued after IWU's minor break away, but a layup and a pair of free throws by Stephanie Kuzmanic gave the Lady Reds the upper hand under a minute remaining. After a missed three-pointer by the Titans with seven seconds on the clock, Carthage sealed its victory and extension to the NCAA tournament.

IWU was outrebounded 38-37, but forced 15 turnovers.
