Box Score BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team lost a 69-63 decision to the University of Chicago at the Shirk Center on Saturday (Dec. 6), losing a 12-point lead with 12:38 remaining in the game.
The Titans dropped to 4-3 overall while the Maroons improved to 2-4 with the nonconference win.
Sophomore
Gabrielle Holness was the lone Titan to score in double figures, collecting 20 points. The Titans had a 50-38 lead with 12:38 to play but the Maroons chipped away and tied the game for the first time at 60-60 with 2:03 to play. The Maroons connecto on 11 free throws in the final 2:29 of the contest after they had scored their final field goal.
Chicago held a 43-32 rebounding edge with 13 offensive boards and the Maroons scored a total of 44 points in the paint compared to 32 for the Titans. Chicago committed 26 turnovers to 24 for Illinois Wesleyan.
