Box Score STEVENS POINT, Wis. - After trailing the entire first half, the Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team used a big second half to pull away from Wisconsin-Stevens Point for a 70-59 win on Saturday Nov. 22.
With the win, IWU improves to 3-0 on the season while the host Pointers fall to 2-2 overall. IWU has now started 3-0 for the second straight season, with all three wins this season coming on the road.
The Titans were held to only 24 points in first half, facing a deficit as large as 12 with 2:54 left in the first half. IWU would cut the lead to 10 at halftime, thanks to a team-leading 15 points by
Gabrielle Holness in the first half.
The Titans would come out with a quick start to the second half, quickly erasing the 10 point lead to tie the game at 36 with 15:28 left to go in the game. IWU would take its first lead off of a Holness 3-pointer with 14:21 left in the game and would hold the Pointers scoreless for a stretch of 5:37 to take an 11 point lead.
IWU's pressure defense caused the Pointers to turn the ball over 26 times, building a 25 point lead with 5:36 left in the game before UW-Stevens Point would go on a 19-5 run to end the game.
