Jackson, Titans Topple Millikin in CCIW Win

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Senior Shelby Jackson scored 24 points, 14 in the second half, and snared eight rebounds to lead the Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team to a 94-74 home court win over Millikin on Wednesday (Jan. 15).

Illinois Wesleyan won for the fourth straight time and improved to 10-5 overall and 4-0 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play while the Big Blue fell to 6-9 overall and 0-4 in the league. The Titans are tied atop the CCIW with Carthage (also 4-0).

The 24 points for Jackson equalled her career high set against Howard Payne on Dec. 28, 2013.

The Titans outrebounded Millikin 35-32 and forced the Big Blue into 31 turnovers, which turned into 28 Titan points. After leading by a 41-32 score at halftime, Illinois Wesleyan built up a 28-point lead at 72-44 with 10:25 to play in the game

IWU hosts No. 12-ranked Wheaton at 5 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 18). The Thunder is 12-2 overall and 3-1 in the CCIW after losing at home to No. 14-ranked Carthage 77-69 on Wednesday.
