Box Score
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Junior
John Pisani led the Illinois Wesleyan men's soccer offense, scoring both Titan goals en route to a 2-1 win over Principia College Friday night at Neis Soccer Field in the first game of the season.
Principia was the first to knock in a goal when Leif Carlson hit the ball past IWU goalkeeper
Andrew Reed in the top right corner of the box at the 12:33 marker to lead the Titans, 1-0.
However, IWU closed strong in the second half when
Adam Flaugher used a corner kick to get the ball to Pisani, who got it past Principia goalie Gavin Thomas, evening out the score, 1-1, with 59:42 on the clock.
Near the end of regulation, Pisani buried the ball in the lower left corner to secure the 2-1 victory, and help the Titans start out the 2013 season on the right foot.
Reed had one save in his 90-minutes of play, while Thomas tallied two saves against IWU.
The Titans will take on Webster University tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. in Bloomington, Ill., to wrap up the "Clash of the Titans" Tournament. Millikin will play Principia at 5 p.m.
