BLOOMINGTON, ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan softball team was swept by Augustana in a doubleheader on Saturday (April 6) at IWU Field. Augustana scored four runs in the top of the seventh to beat the Titans 5-3 in game one, while a walk-off home run by Jaime Rehmert gave the Vikings a 6-5 victory.
The No. 3-nationally ranked Titans fell to 14-5, 1-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Vikings improve to 17-5 and 2-0 in conference play.
Game One
♦ The Vikings got on the board early with a second inning home run by Krista Watson. But Illinois Wesleyan answered back in the bottom of the third with a two-run home run by senior centerfielder
Keri Leach, who finished the game 4-for-4 with two RBI.
♦ The game went scoreless until the top of the seventh when Augustana rattled off two two-run home runs giving them a 5-2 lead going into the bottom half of the inning. Illinois Wesleyan was able to salvage one run in the bottom of the seventh before the last out was recorded.

Molly McCready (6-2) is credited with the loss despite striking out nine batters. Sophomore leftfielder
Audra James was another offensive bright spot for the Titans in game one, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Game Two
♦ In game two, Augustana took the lead in the second inning on a barely fair home run call down the left field line. But Leach (who went 3-for-3 with two RBI in the nightcap) immediately answered with her second home run of the day to deep center field. Senior third baseman
Emma Clark (1-2, 2 RBI) gave the Titans a 5-2 lead in the top of the fifth with a two-run home run, her seventh of the year. The Vikings countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
♦ The Titans held a one run advantage going into the bottom of the seventh. After a lead-off double, starting pitcher
Alyssa Vorel was relieved by freshman
Jenna Noland. The next batter, Jamie Rehmert, homered down the left-field line to give the Vikings the 6-5 victory.
♦ Leach finished the day with 7 hits in 7 at bats with two home runs, two doubles, and four RBI.

The Titans continue CCIW play with a home doubleheader against Elmhurst tomorrow (Sunday April 7) starting at 1 p.m.
