IWU Softball Wins Two Shutouts in NFCA Tourney

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The No. 8-nationally ranked Illinois Wesleyan softball team won 3-0 against Tyler-Texas and put away Neumann, 8-0, on day two at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga., on Saturday, March 9.

TEXAS-TYLER GAME
♦ The Titans improved to 4-0 this spring as they handed No. 3-nationally ranked Texas-Tyler its first loss of the season after 11 wins.

Inside the Box Score
♦ Senior centerfielder Keri Leach had a two-run double in the fifth inning and junior Allie Riordan drove home the other Titan run on a fielder's choice. In the two games Leach totaled five runs batted in.
♦ Junior Molly McCready got the win as she allowed six hits while striking out three and walking three.
♦ Sophomore Audra James had a pair of hits for the Titans.

NEUMANN GAME
♦ The Titans improved to 3-0 and scored two in the first, one in the third and five in the fourth.
♦ The Knights slipped to 0-7 this spring.

Inside the Box Score
♦ Freshman righthander Jenna Noland on her first college start, striking out six and allowing four hits in the five-inning shutout.
♦ Senior centerfielder Keri Leach had two hits and three runs batted in.
♦ Junior Jessica Toth also had two of the seven Titan hits.

What's Next
The Titans play Trine at 10 a.m. Sunday in a winner's bracket game. Trine was a 5-2 winner over Pacific Lutheran on Saturday in the tournament.
