ORLANDO, Fla. - In only her second college start, Illinois Wesleyan freshman Jenna Noland threw a no-hitter in an 8-0 second game win after Alyssa Vorel allowed just four hits in a 6-1 opening win over Marietta in a twin-bill at the Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, Fla., on Wednesday (March 13).

The Titans improved to 6-1 with the two wins and earlier in the day were placed at No. 4 in the Division III rankings done by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

♦  Montclair State (4-0) retained its No. 1 ranking, followed in the top five by No. 2 Emory (25-1), Texas-Tyler (13-1) at No. 3, Illinois Wesleyan at No. 4 and NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic Gold bracket champion Trine (11-1). Tyler-Texas and Trine were handed their only losses of the year by Illinois Wesleyan.

♦  In game one, Vorel allowed the four hits and struck out four to improve to 2-1.
Senior shortstop Courtney Martin, sophomore leftfielder Audra James and sophomore Chloe Montgomery each had two hits and Montgomery provided a pair of runs batted in.
James, juniors Erin Sweeney and Sara Daley and senior Emma Clark each had one RBI.

♦  Noland (2-0) struck out 11 Pioneers in winning the nightcap. Clark and junior Jessica Toth had doubles and Clark, Martin, senior Stephanie Polich and junior Allie Riordan all had two hit games.
Riordan, Clark and junior Danielle Burge each had two runs batted in.

♦  It is the first no-hitter by an IWU pitcher since Molly McCready struck out 12 in a 10-0 win over Millikin on April 9, 2012.

♦  The Titans play their final two Florida games on Thursday, meeting Bridgewater (Va.) at 3 p.m. (ET) and Wheaton (Mass.) at 5 p.m.
