KENOSHA, Wis. - In a down to the wire, overtime match, the Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team ended Carthage's 11-0 conference winning streak, 76-75, at Tarble Arena. In addition the upsetting the No. 25 team,
Colleen McMahon earned a career high in points.
The Titans now sport a 16-7 overall record and are 9-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. The Lady Reds are 19-4 and 11-1 in the CCIW.
♦ Carthage led IWU for a bulk of the first half, until the Titans were able to tie the game with just over two minutes on the clock when
Colleen McMahon nailed a three pointer to bring the score at 32-all.
♦ The Lady Reds were up at halftime, 35-34, as the Titans went 12-for-28 from the field.
♦ The second half was a see-saw battle with the two teams tying the game three times before concluding on a 65-65 even score heading into overtime.
♦ In overtime, the Lady Reds led by as many as four points with 1:14 remaining. However, the Titans called a timeout and resumed with a layup from McMahon to win the game by one point.
♦ The Titans finished 43.9 percent from the field, 32 percent from behind the arc, and 66.7 percent from the free throw line.
♦ McMahon finished with a career-high 31 points in her 41 minutes played.
