Titan Softball Team Takes the Plunge for Special Olympics

2/23/2013 5:24:00 PM

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Members of the Illinois Wesleyan softball team took the plunge ... the Polar Plunge, that is -  at Bloomington's Miller Park Lake on Saturday (Feb. 23) to raise money for Special Olympics.

The Bloomington Polar Plunge is one of many being held statewide. Go here for more information about the Polar Plunges. The funds raised from the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge® will benefit Special Olympics Illinois Heartland/Area 6 which serves athletes with intellectual disabilities in seven counties.

All Polar Plungers were required to collect a minimum of $75 in donations.

When the Titans went in, the air temperature was 29 degrees and the water temperature was 34 degrees, but the IWU team will have plenty of time to warm up when it opens its season in Columbus, Ga., on March 8. (The forecast for Columbus for Feb. 23 is sunny and 73 degrees.)
