BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – In "Senior Night" for Melissa Gardner and Michelle Bilek, the Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team pulled off a close victory over Millikin, 72-70, when Gardner nailed a 15-foot shot with :13 left to make the buzzer beater at the Shirk Center Saturday evening.
 
En route to the two-point win over the Big Blue, Katy Seibring scored a game-high 27 points to help extend IWU's record to 17-7 and 10-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. Millikin sports an 8-15 record and 3-10 in the conference.
 
♦ After the Big Blue made the first basket of the game, the Titans took control and did not let Millikin come within striking distance, leading by 12 at halftime, 38-26.

♦ IWU kicked off the second half in a similar fashion, but with 1:23 on the clock, Millikin came within three points of the Titans after Nikki Tipsword hit a three pointer to bring the score at 70-67.

♦ In the final minute the Big Blue were on a roll, completing a lay up and free throw to tie the game, 70-70, with 37 seconds on the clock.

♦ With just 13 seconds left, Gardner hit the buzzer beater to give the Titans the victory.

♦ IWU finished the game 47.5 percent from the field, 45.5 percent from three-point land, and 64.7 percent from the charity stripe.

Who's Next?
The Titans will host Augustana Tuesday (Feb. 19) at 7:30 p.m. for their final game before the CCIW championships in Kenosha, Wis., on Friday and Saturday. The Titans will play Wheaton in the tournament's first round and the championship game will be on Saturday night to determine the conference automatic berth in the NCAA tournament.
