ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The No. 17-ranked Illinois Wesleyan football team rebounded from last week's defeat to gain a 24-10 win over Augustana at Lindberg Stadium in Rock Island, Ill., on Saturday, Nov. 9.

The Titans, who are No. 17 in this week's D3football poll and No. 19 in the American Football Coaches Association poll, are 8-1 overall and 5-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Vikings fell to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the CCIW.

Illinois Wesleyan had 327 yards of total offense (213 passing, 114 rushing) while the Vikings had a total of 200 (74 passing, 126 rushing). The Titans had 20 first downs to 11 for Augustana.

Senior Rob Gallik completed 23 of 34 passes for 213 yards and three touchdowns. Gallik now has 513 completions in his career and became the school's all-time leader in the category. The old record was 495 by Lon Erickson from 1993 to 1996.

Senior Devonte Jones led the Titans on the ground with 81 yards on 23 carries and senior Sean Conley had 22 yards on three carries.

Sophomore Artie Checchin made seven catches for 75 yards and a TD, Taylor Dee had four grabs for 39 yards and a TD and Garrett Vanhal had two catches for 16 yards and a score.

Sophomore Michael Kelley had a career-long 44 yard field goal with 5:28 left in the third quarter and also added three extra point kicks. His previous long was 39 yards against Hope in 2012.

Senior Chris Simms led IWU with seven tackles with a quarterback sack for -9 yards while senior Kyle Pfister had six total tackles with an interception. Sophomore defensive back Ben Bouie also made an interception for IWU while senior Tim Hollowed and junior John Worley had quarterback sacks for -6 and -3 yards, respectively.
