IWU Women Lose to No. 2 Warhawks, 96-79

WHITEWATER, Wis. – In the middle game of three straight against top 20 teams, the Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team lost a 96-79 decision at Wisconsin-Whitewater at Kachel Gymnasium in Whitewater, Wis., on Wednesday, Nov. 27.

Illinois Wesleyan is 3-2 overall as the Warhawks improved to 5-0. Wisconsin-Whitewater is No. 2 in the latest weekly poll released by USA Today Sports.

The Warhawks had their largest lead of 22 with 12:25 to play in the second half before Illinois Wesleyan charged back, closing to within nine points at 74-65 with 8:18 left. But Whitewater stepped on the accelerator late and built up a 24 point lead (94-70) with 2:08 remaining.

Whitewater held a 34-28 lead in rebounding and the Titans committed 28 turnovers to 26 for the Warhawks.

Whitewater built up a 52-36 lead at the half by virtue of shooting .613 from the field (19 of 31). IWU had a 7-5 lead with 17:34 to go in the first.
