DECATUR, Ill. - Senior Devonte Jones ran for 226 yards with three touchdowns and the Illinois Wesleyan football team scored 14 fourth quarter points to collect a 35-21 win at Millikin to open College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play on Saturday, Oct. 5 in Decatur, Ill.

The Titans improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the CCIW while Millikin fell to 1-3 and 0-1 in the league.

The 226 rushing yards by Jones is the fifth most in an IWU single game and the most since Marcus Dunlop had 222 yards against North Park on Oct. 30, 2004. The school record is 273 yards by Chris Humbles against North Park on Nov. 9, 1991.

Jones's 35 carries is tied for 3rd most in an IWU single game. The school record is 39 by both Kurt Swearingen (Augustana 1977) and Chris Ross (North Central, Oct. 19, 2002).

Senior Rob Gallik completed 10 of 18 passes for 127 yards and Sean Conley had three receptions for 35 yards and a touchdown to lead IWU.

Millikin had 378 yards of total offense to 371 for IWU. The Big Blue amassed 167 via the rush and 211 passing while the Titans had 244 rushing and 127 in the air.

Senior Chris Simms led the Titans with 15 total tackles while junior linebacker Connor Klein had nine and senior linebacker Kyle Pfister added seven. Senior defensive back Paul Panno had an interception return for 68 yards and a touchdown with 4:40 to play in the game. It is the third longest inteception return in an IWU game. Gary Eppinger also made an interception for IWU.
