Box Score BLOOMINGTON, Ill. –
Melissa Gardner hit a game-high six three-pointers to help the Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team defeat Elmhurst, 75-51, Saturday (Jan. 5) evening at the Shirk Center to improve the Titans' record to 8-5.
· IWU got out to an early start, with Gardner creating momentum off her 5-for-5 three pointers in the first half, scoring a half-total of 17 points.
· The Titans outscored the Bluejays, 36-26, at halftime.
· IWU opened the second half on a similar note, with
Colleen McMahon hitting two free throws to put the Titans up by 12 points, 38-26.
· Elmhurst was unable to cut IWU's lead throughout the second half due to the Titans' full-court press, holding the Bluejays to a second half total of 10-for-31 from the field and 2-for-7 from three-point land.
· IWU's
Taylor Reaber hit the last basket for the Titans, with just over four minutes on the clock. After a three-pointer from Elmhurst, IWU secured a 24-point victory.
· The Titans finished the game 39.4 percent from the field, 50 percent from behind the arc, and 75 percent from the free throw line.
