IWU Women Roll Past Cardinals in Fast-Paced Action

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Junior Katy Seibring had career-highs of 23 points and 15 rebounds to lead five players in double figure scoring and help the Illinois Wesleyan women to a 125-89 win over North Central at the Shirk Center on Wednesday (Jan. 16).

♦ Illinois Wesleyan improved to 10-6 overall and 3-2 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Cardinals fell to 8-8, 1-4 CCIW.

♦ The Titans scored the first 12 points of the game and built up a 69-32 halftime lead. The 69 points is the most in a half for an IWU women's team, eclipsing the old mark of 64 scored in the first half of a 126-98 win over Olivet Nazarene on Dec. 12, 2011.

♦ The 125 points is the second most scored by an IWU team in a game and also second most at the Shirk Center. IWU also establshed 2012-13 season game highs for points, field goals made (50), free throw attempts (31), assists (32) and fouls (27).

♦ Illinois Wesleyan was 50 of 87 from the field (57.5 percent) and had 49 points off fast breaks to 4 for the Cardinals. IWU was 8 of 13 from 3-point range (61.5) and made 17 of 31 free throws (54.8). The Cardinals shot 32.2 percent from the field (29 of 90) and made 11 of 46 3-point efforts (23.9), North Central was 20 of 37 free throw shooting (54.1) and committed 26 turnovers to 28 for IWU.

♦ The Titans held a 66-50 lead in rebounds, including 43 on the defensive glass, and 64 percent (32 of 50) of the baskets were the result of an assist.
