BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The No. 7-ranked Illinois Wesleyan softball team took game one 2-0 and lost game two 3-2 against No. 19 Carthage College in a key College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin doubleheader in Bloomington on Thursday (April 26).
The Titans have a 30-5 overall record and 8-2 in the CCIW and leaves Carthage with a mark of 31-5 this season and a final record of 11-3 in the league. IWU plays a doubleheader at Wheaton (22-16, 4-8 CCIW) on Saturday and a twinbill on Sunday at Elmhurst (22-13, 6-6 CCIW) to wrap up their regular season.

The Titans tacked on an insurance run in the sixth. With one out sophomore first baseman
Jessica Toth doubled to left center and, after a flyout to center, Sweeney doubled to right center to chase home Toth.

Molly McCready (13-2) was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits and striking out nine while walking six in the shutout.

The game was scoreless until IWU struck first in the fourth with a single by sophomore designated hitter
