BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan softball team swept the Blugolds of Wisconsin-Eau Claire by scores of 4-1 and 5-4 on Saturday (April 14). Junior pitcher
Alyssa Vorel got the save in game one and the win in game two.
The Titans improved to 23-4 with the two wins while the Blugolds slipped to 16-10.
Rain prevented the other IWU Tournament games from being played on Saturday and the revised schedule for Sunday is as follows:

10 a.m. - Wis.-Eau Claire vs. Blackburn
12 p.m. - Wis.-Eau Claire vs. Fontbonne
2 p.m. - Illinois Wesleyan vs. Fontbonne
2 p.m. - Anderson vs. Blackburn (at Champion Fields, Normal)
4 p.m. - Illinois Wesleyan vs. Anderson
In the 4-1 win in game one, the Titans tied the game at 1-1 in the second on a home run by junior third baseman
Emma Clark, then scored two unearned runs in the fourth on an RBI single by sophomore catcher
Kaity Crane and a ground out by sophomore first baseman
Jessica Toth.
IWU tacked on another run in the fifth on a base hit by junior centerfielder
Keri Leach.
Sophomore
Molly McCready (10-2) threw six innings and allowed one run on four hits with six walks and five strikeouts and Vorel collected the save by going the final inning, walking one, hitting a batter and striking out two.
Vorel (8-2) pitched a complete game four-hitter in the nightcap, striking out 11 and walking one while allowing only one earned run.
Illinois Wesleyan jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on doubles by sophomore
Sara Daley and Leach and Clark's eighth home run of the season.
But the Blugolds tied the game in the bottom of the first on a three-run homer by Fischer and took a 4-3 lead in the fourth.
IWU tied the game in the sixth when Clark doubled to right field and sophomore designated hitter
Allie Riordan reached on a fielder's choice. Both runners moved up on a Crane sacrifice bunt and Clark scored on Vorel's hit to left.
In the seventh, junior shortstop
Courtney Martin singled to right and went to second on a sacrifice. With two outs, Clark was interntionally walked before Riordan cracked a sharp single past the second baseman to bring in Martin for what would prove to be the game-winner.
