KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Junior centerfielder
Keri Leach smacked a grand slam home run to highlight an 8-run inning as Illinois Wesleyan defeated St. Norbert, 11-2, after the Titans suffered their first loss of the year in a 3-1 setback to Montclair State at the Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, Fla., on Thursday (March 15).
Junior
Alyssa Vorel (2-1) was the losing pitcher in the opener, striking out seven and allowing six hits and two earned runs in seven innings.
Freshman leftfielder
Audra James had two of the Titans' six hits.
Leach provided her bases-loaded homer in the second inning of the second game after singles by junior leftfielder
Stephanie Polich and junior shortstop
Courtney Martin and a walk to sophomore catcher Sarah Daley.
Daley also had three runs batted in while Martin, Polich and junior third baseman
Emma Clark each had two hits of the team's 10.
Jessica Toth got the pitching victory, allowing three hits and striking out five while walking five in the five-inning game.
The Titans (6-1) will conclude their spring break trip with games against Wisconsin-River Falls and Lake Forest on Friday.
