IWU Softball Wins Pair at Rebel Spring Games

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Illinois Wesleyan softball team had 25 hits in a pair of wins at the Rebel Spring Games in Florida, downing St. Norbert 10-2 and Transylvania 10-4. The Titans are now 3-0 this season.

In the first game, sophomore Victoria Whitaker pitched five innings and allowed five hits while striking out three and walking five.
She got 12 hits worth of offensive support with three hits coming from freshman rightfielder Audra James, who drove home two runs. Junior shortstop Courtney Martin had two hits and two RBI as the leadoff hitter and junior centerfielder Stephanie Polich also had two hits.

Martin and James each had three of IWU's 13 hits in the second game and junior third baseman Emma Clark also had three hits and drove home three runs with a home run and a double.
Sophomore second baseman Erin Sweeney had two RBI with a triple.
Freshman lefthander Chloe Montgomery picked up her first collegiate pitching win, going five innings and striking out three.

After Tuesday off, IWU will play Wednesday (March 14) against McDaniel and Farmingdale State.
