#20 Titans Down Bluejays 82-63 on Seniors' Night

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Seniors Olivia Lett and Brittany Hasselbring led five players in double figures as the Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team won for the sixth straight time, an 82-63 decision over Elmhurst on Seniors' Night at the Shirk Center.

The Titans improved to 20-5 overall and 13-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and will host Millikin (15-10, 7-7 CCIW) at 7 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 24) in the first round of the conference tournament. Wheaton and Carthage will play the first semifinal game at 5 p.m.
The championship game will be at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Lett scored 18 points and Hasselbring had 12. Junior Michelle Bilek also scored 12 while sophomore Shelby Jackson and junior Melissa Gardner each contributed 10.

The Bluejays were led by the 26 point effort from Tess Godhardt and 13 from Meghan Merklein. Godhardt snared a game-high nine rebounds and Merklein had eight caroms as the teams were even on the boards at 38-38. Bilek grabbed seven to pace IWU.

Elmhurst closed to within two points at 51-49 with 11:06 to play in the game before IWU went on a 18-0 run to clasp a 69-49 lead with 6:22 remaining in the contest.

The Titans, led by 34-27 at intermission, shot .444 from the field (32 of 72) and made 5 of 17 3-pointers (.294). IWU was successful on 13 of 17 free throws (.765).

The Bluejays shot .462 from the field (24 of 52) and made 13 of 21 free throws (.619). Elmhurst attempted only 6 3-point goals and made two. Elmhurst was guilty of 28 turnovers compared to 13 for Wesleyan.
