BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team found themselves down 12 in the first half and took their first lead with 17:33 to play in the game as they came back to defeat Chicago, 67-57, at the Shirk Center on Saturday (Dec. 1).
Game Summary
• The No. 14-ranked Titans improved to 4-2 while the Maroons fell to 1-4.
• The Maroons were ahead by as many as 12 in the first half and led 32-28 at the break. The Titans tied the game at 32-32 with 18:30 to play and then took the lead with a basket almost a minute later, a lead they held onto the rest of the way, going ahead by as many as 14 at 54-40 with 7:38 remaining.
• Illinois Wesleyan shot 37.7 percent from the field (23 of 61) and made just 3 of 14 3-pointers (21.4). IWU was excellent from the free throw line, making 18 of 21 (85.7). Chicago shot 55.3 from the floor (21 of 38) and made 5 of 11 3-pointers (45.5). The Maroons made 10 of 13 free throws (76.9).
• Chicago committed 34 turnovers compared to 13 by the Titans. The Maroons had a 32-26 lead in rebounds but 14 of the Titans' rebounds were on the offensive glass.
