Titans Topple Hope, 35-0, in Tucci Stadium Opener

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Junior Tate Musselman caught two touchdown passes and sophomore T.J. Stinde ran for 159 yards on 21 carries as the Illinois Wesleyan football team rolled to a 35-0 win over Hope at the first game on the Tucci Stadium artifical surface on Sept. 3.

The Titans amassed 448 total offense yards and limited Hope to 182. IWU had 238 yards on the ground and 210 through the air. Sophomore Rob Gallik was nine for 14 for 151 yards and two scores, including an 82-yard TD to Musselman.

Illinois Wesleyan got the only score of the first half when Gallik connected with Mike Sloboda on a 19 yard pass and Tony Angelos added the first of five extra point kicks to make the halftime score 7-0.

Stinde scored on a 1-yard run with 4:03 to play in the third quarter and Musselman got the first of his two TD receptions with 1:34 to play in the third on a gimmick play 34-yard pass from junior wide receiver Joe Musso.

The Titans tacked on two more touchdowns in the final period, the first being the long pass from Gallik to Musselman with 12:51 to play and the last scoring came with 5:51 left when junior Cameron Blossom scored on a 2-yard run.

The Titans were led on defense by senior linebacker Ben Houk with seven total tackles while senior nose tackle Bert Blodgett and senior linebacker Ryan Gresko each had six tackles.
Sophomore Joe Krob made an interception for the Titans that was returned for 10 yards and IWU defenders got hands on two Flying Dutchman punts, deflecting them for punts of only 11 and 26 yards.

The Titans, who won their fourth straight season opening game and collected their first shutout since the North Park game last season, will play at Alma (Mich.) College next Saturday with a 12 p.m. (Central) kickoff.
