BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Home runs by sophomore Emma Clark and freshman Kaity Crane provided all the runs necessary for the Illinois Wesleyan softball team to get a 2-1 win over Wis.-Oshkosh and in the second game, sophomore Katie Bruins struck out 13 as the Titans beat Fontbonne, 6-3, at the IWU Tournament on Friday, April 8

Bruins's 13 strikeouts is tied for third most in an IWU single game. She was given offensive support from Clark, who homered for the second time on Friday, with doubles from sophomore centerfielder Stephanie Polich, freshman Sara Daley and freshman second baseman Erin Sweeney, who had two runs batted in.

Bruins improved to 4-0 with the win as she allowed six hits, two earned runs and walked only two.

For Clark, it is her seventh round tripper this season through the first 18 games. Only four players have hit more than seven homers in a single IWU season and the school record is 10, set by Valerie Hackett in 2007.

Clark gave the Titans (now 14-4) a 1-0 lead with her homer in the bottom of the first inning and Crane, the current College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin "Hitter of the Week", got her game-winning home run came in the last of the sixth.

Sophomore Alyssa Vorel improved to 4-0, going seven innings and scattering five hits while walking one and striking out six.

IWU meets Calvin at 10 a.m. and Washington U. at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 9. Go here for the complete tournament schedule.

The Illinois Wesleyan softball team is staging a "PINK" weekend for the IWU Tournament, with all profits being donated to the local Susan G. Komen Foundation. There is a bake sale, raffle and pink ribbons are for sale at the tourney.
