Titan Softball Loses CCIW Pair at Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan softball team slipped to 4-4 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin after a pair of losses at Carthage on Sunday, April 17. The Titans lost game one, 1-0, as Carthage got only one hit (a home run), and lost the second game, 5-2.

IWU is now 16-10 overall while the Lady Reds improved to 7-3 in the conference and 16-12 overall.

IWU freshman lefthander Molly McCready (4-3) allowed only one hit, a fifth inning home run by shortstop Kari Peterson, in the first game loss. McCready struck out 10 and walked four.
The Titans managed only six hits with two coming from freshman leftfielder Allie Riordan. Freshman catcher Sara Daley had a double.

In game two, Riordan had three hits and junior third baseman Kayla Mahoney had two hits and the team's only two RBI with singles in the second inning and sixth inning.

Sophomore Alyssa Vorel (4-2) was the losing pitcher as she allowed three runs on four hits without recording an out. Freshman Victoria Whitaker allowed two runs on six hits and struck out six in seven innings.
