Titans Split Season-Opening Doubleheader in Fla.

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Illinois Wesleyan softball season opened with a doubleheader split as the Titans bested Roger Williams, 10-2, in the opener before falling, 5-2, to William Paterson in game two at the Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, Fla.

Sophomore shortstop Emma Clark had two doubles and three runs batted in to pace the Titans' offense against Roger Williams while senior first baseman Kris Lee hit a two-run homer and freshman Allie Riordan drove in a pair of runs. Sophomore Katie Bruins (1-0) struck out two while holding Roger Williams to just two hits over four innings.

In the nightcap, freshman Sara Daley had two hits with a double and a run batted in. Riordan, Clark, junior catcher Caitlin Carpenter and Bruins each had one hit and Bruins had a double.

Freshman Molly McCready was the losing pitcher, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out four in the first three innings.

Illinois Wesleyan will play Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges at 1 p.m. (ET) and Wisconsin-River Falls at 5 p.m. (ET) on Monday, March 14.
