ELMHURST, Ill. - A mid-second half offensive blast helped the 9th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team to a 73-61 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin win at Elmhurst on Friday, Feb. 4.
The Titans improved to 16-4 overall and 8-1 in the CCIW while the Bluejays are 9-11 this season and 4-5 in league play.
The Titans led 35-27 at the half but Elmhurst closed to within two at 48-46 with 9:24 to play in the game. But the Titans went on an 11-1 run to take a commanding 59-47 lead with 7:48 to go and were in the driver's seat the remainder of the contest.

Olivia Lett led IWU with 16 points while senior
Hope Schulte scored 14 and junior
Brittany Hasselbring added 12. Schulte also had five assists.
Illinois Wesleyan made 25 of 44 from the field (56.8 percent) and connected on four of 13 3-point free tries (30.8 percent) while making 20 of 27 free throws (74.1 percent).
The Titans committed 25 turnovers in the win and outrebounded the Bluejays, 29-24, as Schulte grabbed a game-high eight boards.
The Bluejays shot 44.7 percent (21 of 47) from the field and made just three of 13 (23.1 percent) from beyond the 3-point arc. Elmhurst, who was guilty of 22 turnovers, made 16 of 28 free throws (57.1 percent).
Elmhurst was led by the 19 points of Meghan Merklein and 12 from Megan Ney.
Illinois Wesleyan will next host Millikin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8.
