IWU Women Have Banner Win Over St. Francis, 83-64

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team posted an 83-64 win over St. Francis on Saturday (Dec. 17), the day the 2011 team's NCAA fourth place banner was unveiled at the Shirk Center.

IWU, who never trailed in the game and led on two occasions in the second half by as many as 25 points, had three players score in double figures, led by senior Olivia Lett with 21. Senior Brittany Hasselbring added 13 points with four assists and junior Melissa Gardner scored 12.

IWU, who led by a 48-27 margin at halftime, shot at a .439 percentage from the field (29 of 66) and connected on six of 17 3-point free tries (.353). The Titans made 19 of 21 free throws (.905) and held a commanding 46-26 lead on the boards.
Sophomore Shelby Jackson, junior Michelle Bilek and senior Karen Solari each had six rebounds for the winners.

Saint Francis shot .353 percent (18 of 51) and made five of 17 (.294) from beyond the 3-point arc. The Saints, who played only seven people, were deadly from the free throw line, making 23 of 25 (.920).

Saint Francis got 16 points off the bench from Ashley Teresiak to lead four players in double figure scoring. Teresiak also had a game-best seven rebounds.

The Titans will play next against 7-2 King's College on December 29 at 6 p.m. Central time in the Whittier (Calif.) College "Purple and Gold Poet Classic." At 6 p.m. Central time the next night, IWU will face the host school.
