ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - A 19-6 run to open the second half extended the Illinois Wesleyan lead to 23 and the women's basketball team handily defeated Augustana, 91-58, in Rock Island on Tuesday, Jan. 25.
The No. 6-ranked Titans improved to 15-3 overall and 7-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and the Vikings dropped to 4-14 and 0-7 in conference play.
The 91 points is the most scored in a winning effort by Illinois Wesleyan this season – IWU had more in a 110-106 overtime loss at Olivet Nazarene on Dec. 13.
The Titans held a 10-point halftime lead at 34-24 before going on the early second period spree to lead by a 53-30 score with 15:23 to play in the game. The Titans, who never trailed in the game, led by as many as 37 with 4:21 to play in the contest and kept the Vikings from scoring a field goal for seven and a half minutes in the second half (from the 9:35 mark until 2:06 to play).

Nikki Preston with 21, senior

Stacey Arlis with 10 points and a team-high six boards.
Augustana outrebounded the Titans by a 44-38 total but the Vikings were guilty of 27 turnovers compared to 17 by Illinois Wesleyan.
The Vikings had no players score in double figures but got nine points from Whitney Miller, Kristen Fox and Jessica Baids. Fox corralled a game-high eight rebounds.
Illinois Wesleyan made 32 of 66 from the field (48.5 percent) and connected on 11 of 26 3-point free tries (42.3 percent) while making 16 of 20 free throws (80.0 percent).
The Vikings shot 32.2 percent (19 of 59) from the field and made only three of 18 (16.7 percent) from beyond the 3-point arc. Augustana made 17 of 22 free throws (77.3 percent).
Illinois Wesleyan will host Carthage at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29. The Lady Reds are 13-5 overall and 4-3 in the CCIW after an 81-43 win over North Park on Jan. 25.
