BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - On "Seniors' Day", senior shortstop
Allison Ward had three hits and three runs batted in in the second game to help Illinois Wesleyan to a 10-3 win after the Titans took the opener, 4-1, against the U. of Chicago at IWU Field on Saturday, May 1.
The doubleheader was a matchup of two of the Great Lakes Region's top six softball teams in the latest rankings - the Titans, now 26-12, started the day ranked No. 2 in the region, while Chicago (23-12-1) was No. 6.

Christy Engel (9-7) held the Maroons to three hits in Saturday's opener, while collecting three hits in four at-bats. She drove in what proved to be the decisive run with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth.
Chicago senior Kathleen Duffy's run-scoring single in the sixth accounted for Chicago's lone run.
Pitcher Sarah Neuhaus fell to 11-3 as she allowed 11 hits and four runs (three earned) in five and one-third innings.
Chicago scored three times in the first inning in game two, but the Titans answered with four in the third inning and sixth in the sixth. After their three-run outburst in the opening frame, the Maroons managed only four hits the remainder of the contest.
Junior
Jen Monaco and Ward each collected three RBIs for the Titans. Monaco belted a three-run home run in the third inning.
Freshman Vicky Tomaka went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for the Maroons.

Katie Bruins improved to 7-3 in the circle as she picked up the pitching win, despite yielding seven hits and three runs in four and one-third innings. The Maroons' Melissa Collins took the loss after being tagged for seven hits and four runs in three innings.
