Christy Engel pitcher a no-hitter in a first game 5-0 win over North Central but the Cardinals won game two, 2-1, to split the doubleheader at Shadower Field in Naperville, Ill., on April 15.
The Titans are 19-9 overall and 5-3 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Cardinals (22-6 overall) stayed atop the CCIW standings with a 6-2 record.
Engel improved to 5-5 as she allowed just three baserunners, on walks, and struck out six batters.
IWU scored in the top of the first inning when freshman
Stephanie Polich led off with a single to center field, advanced on a sacrifice and scored on an error.
The Titans added another run in the third inning as
Allison Ward singled through the left side before exploiting more Cardinal errors to score three unearned runs in the fifth.
Holly Roadruck (9-3) took the complete game loss, allowing just one earned run.
North Central got three of its six hits in the first inning of game two, scoring two runs as Erin Drennan belted a one-out single through the left side and scored when Laura Whitfield doubled to center field. A Kara Reid single with two outs scored Whitfield.
