BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan sotfball team improved to 9-3 with a pair of wins at home against Monmouth on Wednesday, March 24. The Titans won the first game, 7-2, and took game two, 8-0.

The Titans exploded for four runs in the opener as senior shortstop Allison Ward drove home a pair of runs with a single and sophomore third baseman Kayla Mahoney provided a sacrifice fly RBI. Mahoney also belted a solo home run to straightaway centerfield in the third inning.
Senior Christy Engel improved to 2-2 with the win, scattering seven hits and striking out five in six innings. Lauren James struck out the side in the seventh.

Freshman Katie Bruins (2-1) allowed only two hits and struck out four in the nightcap and was supported by 11 IWU singles. The Titans also took advantage of four Fighting Scots wild pitches and two errors.
Bruins helped herself with two hits and two RBI while Engel and leftfielder Jen Monaco each added two hits.

IWU plays a pair of games at No. 18 Washington U. in St. Louis at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 27.
