IWU Finishes Florida Trip With 7-3 Record

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ORLANDO, Fla. - For the second straight day the Illinois Wesleyan softball team (7-3) split a pair of games at the Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, Fla., on March 19. The Titans defeated Anderson, 2-0, before losing to William Paterson, 2-1.

Against Anderson, freshman Alyssa Vorel struck out seven and scattered seven hits in 6 1/3 innings and senior Christy Engel pitched the final two outs to earn the save.
Vorel also had one of three Titan hits as freshman Stephanie Polich got the other two. IWU scored two unearned runs in the first inning.

Against William Paterson, Engel took the loss, allowing two runs on four hits while fanning four in six innings.

The Titans got back to back doubles from senior Allison Ward and junior Kris Lee to lead off the sixth but only four other singles in the game.

Illinois Wesleyan will open its home season on Wednesday, March 24 with a 4 p.m. doubleheader against Monmouth.
