IWU Men's Soccer Wins Homecoming Match, 2-1

Box Score Illinois Wesleyan 2, North Central 1 - Box Score

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Sophomore Tim Griffin and freshman Angelo Catalano got goals to lead the Illinois Wesleyan Titans to a 2-1 win in men's soccer over North Central on Saturday, Oct. 9, in IWU's Homecoming match.

The Titans improved to 4-5-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin while the Cardinals fell to 4-5-3 overall and 0-1-1 in the CCIW. Each team had seven shots on goal in a match that featured 31 fouls, seven yellow cards and a red card.

Griffin had a penalty kick go into the net to give IWU a 1-0 lead at 15:32, the only first half goal.

Catalano's goal came on a rebound off the right post from a shot by Kyle Gorgol at 46:56 to provide IWU with a 2-0 edge.

The Cardinals scored at 55:55 when Pete Zimmermann got his second tally of the season on an assist from T.J. Simmons.

IWU senior keeper Frank Gorg had three saves in 90 minutes and his counterpart Phillip Klipp had two saves.

IWU's next action comes Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Millikin at 3 p.m.
