BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The No. 1-ranked Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team rolled to its 18th win of the season against no losses with an 82-60 home victory over Augustana on Jan. 26.
The Titans have now won 56 straight regular season games and a league-record 33 straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin contests.
Junior
Hope Schulte led IWU with 15 points while three other Titans scored in double figures - senior
Christina Solari had 13 points and five rebounds, freshman
Melissa Gardner had 10 points and sophomore
Olivia Lett scored 10 and had a team-high six rebounds.
Sophomore
Brittany Hasselbring had a career high nine points with three assists in the win.
IWU led by a 42-20 score at intermission and shot 48 percent from the field in the first half (15 of 31) and 46 percent in the game (29 of 63).
The Vikings (6-12, 1-6 CCIW) got 13 points from Kristen Fox and 13 from Dori Gillis coming off the bench. Natalie Runge had 11 points and a game-high seven rebounds as Augustana outrebounded the Titans, 42-36.
The Vikings managed only 37 percent shooting from the field (20 of 54), made four of 17 3-point tries (.267) and committed 22 turnovers compared to only 13 for IWU.
Augustana shot 46 percent from the field in the second half (13 of 28) after only 27 percent (seven of 26) in the first period.
The Titans play next at Carthage at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30. The Lady Reds (15-3 overall, 5-2 CCIW) are No. 18 in the USA Today/ESPN coaches' poll and No. 20 in the D3hoops.com poll this week.
