WHITEWATER, Wis. - The No. 1 ranked Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team won its 49th straight regular season game and improved to 11-0 with an 87-58 drubbing of No. 13-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater on Jan. 2.

Junior Nikki Preston scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed six boards, handed out four assists and made four steals in the win. Junior Hope Schulte scored 20 points and senior Christina Solari added 11 points and collected a game-high 10 rebounds as IWU outrebounded the Warhawks, 36-29.

The Titans, who led 49-28 at halftime, shot 49 percent from the field (27 of 55) and connected on nine of 25 3-point efforts while committing only 18 turnovers and forcing Whitewater into 27 turnovers. The Titans also connected on 24 of 32 free throw tries and made 14 steals.

IWU led 10-9 with 14:23 to play in the first period before going on a 17-2 run over the next 4:32 to take a commanding 27-11 lead with 9:51 to play before intermission.

Kelsey Hendrickson was the lone Warhawk in double figure scoring, hitting for 16.

The Titans open defense of their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin crown on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at North Central at 7:30 p.m.
