WHEATON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team had 29 assists on their 34 baskets en route to a 94-57 win at Wheaton on January 19.
The Titans, who are ranked No.1 in both the D3hoops.com and USA Today/ESPN polls, improved to 16-0 overall and 5-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin with their 31st consecutive league win and their 54th straight regular season victory.
IWU extended a 10-point halftime lead (45-35) to outscore the Thunder 49-22 in the second period.
Junior
Hope Schulte led four IWU players in double digit scoring with 15 points while juniors
Nikki Preston and
Sarah Cotner each added 12 and junior
Stacey Arlis scored 11. Senior
Christina Solari had four points, nine rebounds and contributed 10 assists.
The Titans, who had assists on all 16 of their first half baskets, shot 52 percent from the field (34 of 65) and connected on 11 of 21 from 3-point range. IWU also held a 42-31 edge in rebounds and forced 27 Thunder turnovers.
Wheaton (9-6 overall, 3-2 CCIW) managed 35 percent shooting from the floor (20 of 57) and got 14 points from Lindsey Brenneman and 12 from Annie Bowen.
The Titans next host North Park on Sunday, Jan. 24 at 1:30 p.m. at the Shirk Center.
